At Wylam First School we have worked hard to design a curriculum, based on the National Curriculum Statutory Requirements,  that is specific to our children and the community that we serve. Our high expectations and aspirations for our children are represented in our desire to deliver a curriculum that promotes character education through: STEM learning, a creative culture and curriculum and a focus on personal development, that empowers our pupils to be emotionally and physically Intelligent. Our aim is to ensure that our children are not only ready for their next stage in education but are equipped with the knowledge and skills and cultural capital they need to succeed in education and beyond.

Our aim is that all of our pupils will be:

  • Creative and critical thinkers
  • Able to problem solve effectively
  • Enterprising
  • Able to persevere
  • Emotionally and physically intelligent
  • Resilient

We also aim to develop the Tyne Community Learning Trust’s core values of:

  • Collaboration
  • Innovation
  • Resilience
  • Respect
